The Advisory Committee consisted of almost 50 members appointed by the school board through an application process. The committee had representatives from the following community groups:
The SLSD Bond Advisory Committee shall meet on a regular basis to review and prioritize facility needs and confer on recommendations to the South Lane School District Board of Directors regarding a bond to replace Harrison School and consider other facility upgrades to be included in the bond. All recommendations to the board will be advisory in nature. The School Board’s main focus is a replacement school for Harrison, but other facility upgrades previously discussed include technology and security upgrades throughout the district, a swimming pool, a baseball field, another turf field, and a performing arts center/theatre.
Board policy BCF will guide the meetings of the SLSD Bond Advisory Committee including following opening meeting laws and invitations for citizens to address the committee. The Superintendent or designee will serve as an ex-officio member to the Advisory Committee and may assign additional staff members to carry out the duties of the committee. Board members may be appointed to the committee by the board chair. The Committee will also be appropriately staffed for clerical needs, including recording minutes of the committee meetings.
