Superintendent Krista Parent came to the district in 1985 as a first year teacher out of the University of Oregon. Krista began her teaching career at Lincoln Junior High before moving to Cottage Grove High School as an Assistant Principal. In 1994 Krista moved to the District Office as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and worked with 5 different superintendents in less than two years. In 1996 Krista was named the Assistant Superintendent where she served under Superintendent Bob Sisk for five years. As Assistant Superintendent Krista was responsible for the "Build It" campaign which eventually led to the bond passing to build the new high school. In 2001 Krista was named Superintendent of South Lane School District where she has served since. Krista's leadership has led to a number of significant achievements in the district including improved student academic performance for high school students. Krista was the first and only Oregon Superintendent to have ever been named National Superintendent of the Year. She received this award in 2007. Krista earned her Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate Degrees from the University of Oregon. Krista's doctoral thesis was titled "Women in the Oregon Superintendency".

Executive Assistant Tonya Kerns began working for South Lane in August of 2002.  Initially hired as office manager for Bohemia Elementary, Tonya moved to the district office in 2011 assuming the responsibilities of state reporting and student accounting in addition to being the Administrative Assistant to Kyle Tucker.  In November 2016 Tonya became the Board Secretary and Assistant to Superintendent Krista Parent. Tonya and her family are longtime residents of Cottage Grove.

Assistant Superintendent Kyle Tucker served as a Teacher, Coach, Dean of Students, and High School Principal before being promoted to Superintendent in the Mapleton School District.  He was the second most senior superintendent in Lane County behind only Krista Parent who is the most senior.  Kyle was employed by Mapleton School District from 1997-2012.  In July 2012 Kyle joined the South Lane team as Assistant Superintendent. A life-long resident of Eugene, Kyle graduated from North Eugene High School where he was an All-Star pitcher.  He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Western Oregon University and completed his Administrative Licensure program at the University of Oregon.

Administrative Assistant Summer Harris

Special Services Coordinator Chad Hamilton oversees special education K-12 services throughout the district. Chad is a long term, experienced staff member and has been a school psychologist and building principal before becoming the Special Services Coordinator. Chad Hamilton began his career at South Lane in 2000 as a school psychologist.  In 2004 he took on the role of principal at Latham Elementary before moving to the District Service Center in 2011.

Human Resource Director Brian McCasline began his teaching career in 1997 at Cottage Grove High School as a Spanish Teacher. After 3 years of teaching, he served as the assistant principal for another 3 years.  He then was a principal at Lincoln Middle School (9 years) and Latham Elementary (2 years). While at Latham, he also supervised district Math curriculum, and worked to create online evaluations systems for teachers, administrators, and classified employees.  Brian received a Bachelor's Degree in Family Science from Brigham Young University in 1994, and Master of Arts in Teaching from Southern Oregon University.  He has also completed the Initial and Continuing Administrator Licensing Programs at the University of Oregon.   

Business Manager Phil Scrima joined the South Lane team in July 2010. He came to us from Eugene SD 4J where he served as the Financial Operations and Reporting Manager since 2007. Prior to his time in Eugene, Phil was the Business Manager in Siuslaw School District for five years.

Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor Matt Allen joined the district in 2005 as the Disctrict HVAC Technician and Electrician.  In 2011 Matt was appointed Maintenance Lead for the department.  In 2012 Matt moved into the position of Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor overseeing all 9 school campuses, 4 district buildings and the numerous acres of grounds owned by the district.  Matt and his wife, Dana are longtime residents of Cottage Grove and have a son attending Cottage Grove High School. 

Food Service Supervisor Monica Yoss began her work in schools in 1989 when she served as a Payroll Accounts Clerk and Food Service Accountant for the Eugene School District. She took over as the Food Service Supervisor for South Lane School District in 1997 where she is responsible for all meals served to the nearly 3,000 students throughout the district. Monica is a graduate of Cottage Grove High School and earned her Associate's Degree from Lane Community College in 1985.

Transportation Supervisor Theresa Bichsel began working in the transportation industry in 1994, driving route and trip buses for Creswell School District. In 2005 she became their transportation supervisor.  Theresa is a CORE instructor for school bus drivers, a Behind the Wheel School Bus Driver Trainer and a DMV 3rd Party Tester.  The mother of 3 grown daughters and 3 beautiful grandchildren, Theresa has been a long time resident of the Cottage Grove/Creswell area, moving here in 1971.  She coached the Creswell High School Equestrian team for 9 years, while her daughters were in high school.  In her spare time she is a member of the Mane Attraction Rodeo Performance Drill Team, competing around the Northwest.
