We Are South Lane!

The South Lane School District, a high-performing district, is located in Cottage Grove, Oregon approximately 20 miles south of Eugene and University of Oregon, with a population of approximately 8,500. There are ten schools; three K -5, two Pre K - 8, one middle school, and one 9-12 alternative high school, one 9-12 comprehensive high school, and two Charter Schools. Elementary Schools range in population from 100 to 500 students. Lincoln Middle School serves grades 6-8 and has approximately population of 550. Cottage Grove High School (CGHS) serves grades 9-12 with a population of approximately 850 students.

Oregon Certification

Each person employed in an Oregon Public school as a teacher or administrator must hold a current certificate issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards & Practices Commission (TSPC). An educator must hold such a certificate before employment begins. Oregon laws cannot grant reciprocity to persons prepared or certified by other states. Certification can be granted only to those meeting Oregon requirements, except in emergency situations. All teachers who wish to teach in core subject areas must be designated as "Highly Qualified" through the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission. Core academic areas include Language Arts (English), Reading, Mathematics, Sciences, Foreign Language, Social Studies, and Art.

Classified applicants, should you be the selected, Oregon Law requires you be fingerprinted and be subject to an FBI criminal records check. There will be a $59 charge for the criminal history verification conducted by the OREGON DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION payable to South Lane School District which may be payroll deducted. (Note: South Lane School District does not gain any revenue from this process.)
