In the South Lane SD, we ensure that our teachers and instructional assistants are highly qualified to work with students. We are very careful regarding who we hire and place in classrooms in all our schools.
All of our teachers hold an Oregon Teaching License and all of our Instructional Assistants have passed an academic skills test. In addition, we monitor and evaluate their effectiveness every year. South Lane SD is committed to providing high-quality instruction to students.
If you have any questions regarding the professional qualifications of your child's classroom teacher, please contact our Human Resources Department by calling 541-942-3381. By law, we can provide you with the following information:
- Whether the teacher meets the state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grades and subjects he or she teaches
- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status because of special circumstances
- The teacher's college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree
- Whether instructional assistants provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications
